Today's Quote

The higher mental development of woman, the less possible it is for her to meet a congenial male who will see in her, not only sex, but also the human being, the friend, the comrade and strong individuality, who cannot and ought not lose a single trait of her character.

i love twitter

twitterbirdI started tweeting a few months ago.  No, I don’t need to see a doctor, I joined twitter and began sharing my world in 140 characters or less! I have made many new friends on twitter – people that live where I do (Pittsburgh), people that share my interests (reading, music, silly jokes!), and people that are going through similar life experiences (cancer).

One such new friend is Loren DiGiorgi, or DarkPiano as his twitter friends know him. Loren is a friendly tweeter with a sense of humor and a love of music. In fact, Loren is a musician. He tunes pianos to pay for his internet connection so he can tweet endlessly to all his favorite people, LOL! On one such excursion to tune an elderly woman’s piano, he got so much more than a check for his troubles. The woman was struggling with lung cancer and simply wanted to play an in tune piano as her “medicine”. To hear Stage 4, the song Loren wrote out of this encounter, and the rest of this touching story, click here.

I am thankful for the opportunity to interact with people such as Loren and I’m sure I will have many more such experiences as I continue to tweet . . . I love twitter!

Are you tweeting? If so, what has your experience been on twitter?

learning to fly

Wow! I am having so much fun learning all this social media stuff. I have always loved computers even back in college when we had to type punch cards and wait a half hour for a print out of our program.  (I’m dating myself, I realize, but what the heck!) I think it’s the whole idea of solving a puzzle – writing a program and finally getting it to work properly. I loved that. Now, thanks to technology, I don’t have to know the first thing about code, well, it helps to know a little and as I said I am learning.

What I love is there is a whole community of people who are more than happy to show you the ropes.  So, bear with me, folks, I’m at the top of the learning curve here, but I’m eager to learn. So, let’s get this party started!
